I thought it would be hotter. I'm in Tucson, AZ visiting U of A. I know, I've been a bad, bad blogger. I've been busy. Sort of. Anyway, a few weeks ago I received an email, and then a letter, from UA inviting me to come interview. UA has a pretty slick program, 14 months of nursing school followed by a two year work commitment at one of the sponsoring hospitals. Why the commitment? They pay all your books, fees and tuition. And yes, I would get paid as a normal employee after graduation. So, I'm in Tucson. I think the interview went pretty well. I didn't embarrass myself and I'm pretty sure my answers were coherent. It was the most unique interview experience I've ever had. We were put into groups of 3 and then interviewed by a panel of 3. 5 questions. That's it. I actually enjoyed it (as much as one can enjoy an interview). I only had to answer first once so I had time to formulate my answers while the others were talking. In addition to the interview today, last night I went to an orientation put on by the sponsoring hospitals. I'm impressed. While there I met the General Young Women's President. She wasn't there to interview, her daughter was. All the same, it was cool to meet her. I won't bore you with all the interview and orientation details, suffice to say I think it went well. And on Monday I get to shadow in the trauma center at University Medical Center. I'm giddy over that one.
As for the singles scene, I went out to dinner with a group last night and then over to an institute activity. It was a comedy night so no socializing but definitely entertaining. The one guy I did meet was great. I'm going to visit two of the wards tomorrow so I fill in more details if they're remotely interesting. I've been getting really good feedback about the scene here so maybe Tucson wouldn't be social suicide after all.
No final decisions yet (don't worry, U of U is still in the running) but if I were to be accepted here and were I to attend, I think I would be happy. And by the way, seriously, the nicest people I have ever met.
Happy 5th Birthday!
